This post is meant to be an evergrowing list of factors affecting the Indian financial market. We will start small and keep adding on to it as and when information flows by. For now I will split the list into two - one that affects the overall financial market or any particular indistry/sector, and the second one that specifically affects any given company (stock).
These would be the items that we should keep a watch on in order to make intelligent decisions when buying or selling securities, particularly focusing on equities.
If you could suggest any items, which you sure would, as this list is very minimal for now, go ahead and keep submitting your comments to this post and I shall keep on incorporating.
So here’s to begin with, with the two lists:
1. Factors affecting the overall financial market or any given industry/sector:
- Investor sentiments
- Global markets
- Budget (Union, Railway, …)
- Expiring derivatives contracts
- Change in market capitalization method to calculate benchmark indices (full-float/free-float)
- US existing and new home sales data
- US GDP QoQ (Annualized)
- US initial jobless claims
- Annual monsoon
2. Factors affecting any given stock (for any given company):
- Investor sentiments
- Corresponding industry/sector performance
- Board meeting
- Results (Quarterly, Annual)
- Dividends
- Large project deals/initiatives
- Law suits
- Board changes (Particularly, CEO)
- Press releases
