So, what is an ideal work life balance?
Come on now, take a piece of paper and a pen and actually write down the answer to this question. Do you have a very clear picture of what it would be like to have an excellent work life balance?
Did this one question make you think? Probably it made you wonder, and even left you lost in your thoughts, trying to figure out what an idealistic work life balance really is? Could you actually write down an answer that sounded satisfactory to you? Did it give you a clear image of what work life balance means?
There is no one answer to the question of what an ideal work life balance is. That’s because work life balance means different things to different people. For some, it would be as simple as being able to leave on time from office and then spend the rest of the day with family and friends. For some others it may mean not having to work at all for someone else, and further, just having to spend only a few hours a week to keep a check on things to ensure that all the passive and recurring income that is flowing in continues and grows even beyond.

Ok, you can snore, but do not disturb the one you are sleeping with! (Pun intended)
Today let me ask you, “How many hours of continuous sleep do you grab each night?”
What!! Eight hours? There are only 24 hours in a day, and if you spend 8 hours of that on sleep, you’re wasting one third of your life just sleeping, aren’t you?
If you just answered to that question in the affirmative, then think again! If sleeping eight hours each night makes you think that you are wasting your time, then I’m here to be a little in your face and tell you that you need a change of perspective, because sleep is one of the most important ingredients to success!
Yes, I’m actually going to encourage you to grab some more sleep. But, that doesn’t mean you can sleep all morning and blame it on me, okay?
Remember my previous post where I mentioned that loss of health was one of the reasons that kept me away for some time? And you also remember me indicating that it was not work stress that caused it?
No points for guessing! Yes, it was…

First of all, a very warm welcome to all you lovely people who have recently subscribed to my blog updates. It’s been some time since I’ve posted new stuff. I’m sure you didn’t like that, and well, I didn’t like it myself either!
Alright, straight to the point! There were two main reasons that had kept me away:
1) A skewed work life balance.
2) Loss of health (no, not due to work stress).
The second of the two reasons was a byproduct (though it wasn’t a direct one) of the first. I’ll dedicate today’s post to discuss a few of the important factors with regard to a skewed work life balance, which was the first of the two reasons that stole away a significant amount of my time over the last few weeks.
I’ve been through this before! I’ve also analyzed this situation, innumerable times over the years, and have expressed it more than once in my earlier posts with the hope of helping myself (besides my readers of course) through my own posts.
Based on my most recent experience, I’m inclined to write about three difficult factors that put work and life out of balance…

Filled with great hopes and emotion amidst the year-end/new-year fever, you made some solid resolutions to begin the year with and, just like last year, you vowed to make them all come true, this time for sure!
Well, we’re through with one month of this New Year already. May be the year doesn’t seem new to you anymore. If I had published this post earlier, amidst the hustle bustle on the occasion of a New Year, you would have probably taken it as yet another post on New Year’s resolutions. And there’s a strong reason why I choose this day and why I’m here today to ask you “Are you still hanging onto your New Year’s resolutions?”
“Where” are your resolutions?
How about your plan of action?
Did you dare to share it?
There are different ways of handling stress. Based on my experience in dealing with all the stressful situations that I’ve been through over the years, I have come up with, and strongly recommend, a three tiered approach to handle stress.
The three tiers are:
1. Responsive
2. Adaptive
3. Preventive
In this article we will have a quick look at how I define each of these three tiers and some simple essentials to help achieve each of them.
